Sleeplessness

Can't get to sleep at night? Some would say that's a direct result of all the stress we're under these days. Others suggest it's the result of our lifeline connection to technology-the constant blinking of lights keeps us up. With allergies swarming the air, some of us may be having trouble sleeping. Have you tried to combat your allergies ? What if you can't afford an air purifier? There's a cheaper solution: your pillow. First, find out if you're using the right pillow. People who sleep on their stomachs should use a different type of pillow than persons sleeping on their sides. Find your ideal pillow type by taking this test . Your pillow can act as a dust mite haven, too-you don't want to breathe all of that in!

Dealing with stress this semester?

Stress. We all feel it, and deal with it, in different ways. For those of us who lose sleep: 1. Try to get yourself on a schedule, going to bed and getting up at the same time every day. 2. Relax your body before sleeping. Stretch out in bed, starting with your toes and ending with your neck. 3. Relax your mind. Keep a notepad by your bed to jot down last minute ideas-worrying that you'll forget them keeps you awake. 4. Aromatherapy-Try a relaxing Lavender-scented lotion or candle before bed. 5. Make sure there are no bright lights that you can see from bed-this includes your cel phone and your clock! Tilt them away from where you sleep. For those who eat their stress: 1. Make sure your meals are colorful-this satisfies the eye and the belly. 2. Pay attention to your body! Are you craving popcorn? Perhaps your body needs salt, or carbs...opt for a healthier option.
